St Ives: The perfect holiday location

St Ives is renowned for its cosmopolitan mix of restaurants, art galleries, beaches and stunning scenery. Whether you are looking for a quiet week on the beach, or an energetic mix of surfing, golf, walking or diving, there is something for you here.  The picture above is Portminster Beach, just 2 minutes walk from Michaelmas Cottage.

Dating back to the first days of Christianity, St Ives is named after a young woman missionary called St Ia who, according to legend, floated over from Ireland on an ivy leaf. For much of its history St Ives was a fishing port, home to about a thousand fishing families who earned a living catching the local Mackerel, Herring and Pilchards.

Much of the town’s historical charm remains in the granite cottages and the labyrinth of lanes and alleys that make up St Ives. It is home to the Tate Gallery,, some of the best beaches, and some of the finest restaurants in the UK,

Michaelmas Cottage

Michaelmas Cottage is a great location whatever you need. Importantly, it is positioned in the heart of the town, two minutes walk from the shops, bars, restaurants and beaches. Unusually for St Ives there is also parking space on the drive for 2 cars.

The cottage has been in my family for many years, and it has been decorated and furnished as a home in which we would be happy to live.  We are clearly biased, but we believe this to be the perfect place to make your home whilst staying in this most fabulous of town's.

Andy Bradshaw and family visited the cottage in 2006, staying for two weeks, and commented "This is the perfect house for us.  The kids had a wonderful time (we all had a wonderful time:-), and the Cottage was the perfect place to stay, many thanks"
